My 1964 Fairlane "Thunderbolt Clone"
This was my first view of the Fairlane.
Just driving by and saw this sitting by the road. There was a "For Sale" sign on the windshield. I stopped to check it out and get more info.

Front View - - looked pretty rough..
I talked to the owner and he said it was sold on a conditional payment plan, but that he was late with his payment. He said he would wait another 30 days and if it wasn't paid that I had first chance. I left my phone number and left. |
Another side view on the first day..
I really wondered if it was a good salvage item..

After I got it home 6 weeks later.
The floors were almost gone and the complete interior looked pretty rough. |
Driver side floors.
This was the starting point. Lots of planning and gathering of parts ahead.

Floor replacement
New floor pans welded in and sealed. All four (4) pans were replaced. The under side will be sealed also later along in the process. |
The Other side.
This side was done the same as the driver side--top and bottom.

On the tilter.
This is Doug Forschner working on the bottom side of the floor pans. |
Kinda stripped down.
We took it apart-kinda. Just about everything had to be repaired.

Under the battery tray.
The battery acid must have been pretty bad from the looks of this. Area was repaired and battery relocated to trunk. |
|
Seat brackets.
New brackets had to be welded in for the different seats.
